What potential and challenges are there related to growing poplar in different parts of the world? John Stanturf, visiting professor of forest management planning and wood processing technologies, and member of the Trees For Me external advisory board, shares the latest news on the Populus genus.

The Populus genus of poplars, cottonwoods, and aspens is comprised of highly productive species with a global distribution because of human intervention. Breeding programs have produced clones and hybrids grown in many countries for a variety of uses, from short rotation biomass, timber, and environmental benefits including forest restoration. The webinar will provide an overview of operational Populus culture with global examples.

The presentation will be given by John Stanturf, Visiting Professor and Chair of Forest Management Planning and Wood Processing Technologies at the Estonian University of Life Sciences and Senior Researcher and Forest Restoration Specialist at InNovaSilva in Denmark. John Stanturf is a member of the Trees For Me external advisory board.
