Cropping experiment

In this cropping experiment, planting of birch will be compared with planting of Norway spruce, Scots pine and Siberian and hybrid larch. One large clearcut, or several smaller clear-cuts close to each other with similar site conditions, will be divided into five areas. A tree species will be assigned to each planting area by random and one area will be assigned no planting. In all other respect, the normal procedure for planting at the respective company will be followed.

We aim for more than 20 sites, but preferably up to 40 sites, of this experimental set-up. We also aim for geographical and productivity gradients. The experiment will initially be used for studying establishment and browsing damage, but experiments will thereafter be converted to PCT-experiments.
