Silviculture and stand management with focus on planted birch

In this project we aim to increase the knowledge on stand management and stand development for planted birch. Using existing data from long term experiment from Sweden, Latvia and Finland we will  

1. Construct height development curves for planted birch
2. Investigate growth response after competition release on individual trees and on stand level
3. Explore thinning strategies 
4. Supply growth and yield functions and data for further landscape and long term scenarios in Heureka
